Empirical Theology: a Catholic way of doing social science research

Chris Richardson

Catholic researchers should not be reluctant to conduct their research explicitly from within the Catholic Tradition. Empirical theology has a long and respected history in academic circles. Chris Richardson is a retired Catholic secondary headteacher and diocesan commissioner. He is currently a visiting lecturer in Catholic School Leadership at St Mary?s University College, Twickenham.

The experience that people have of living the Catholic life and their understanding of what it means to be a Catholic are worthy enquiries for people interested in the pastoral life of the Church.
