This volume of essays is written by members of the faculty of the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College and is dedicated to its students. It reads like a course of lectures on hope. There are four sections: ?Grounding Hope?; ?Nurturing Hope?; ?Sustaining Hope? and ?Living Hope? along with thorough indexes. The epilogue explains that the purpose of the book has been to ?take us all on a journey toward a greater appreciation of God?s presence in our experience of hope.?

Writing about hope theoretically is one thing, writing about hope lived, is another. For the most part I felt I read the former and the book excited me most when it touched, for example, in the essay on the migrant journey, on the latter.
